Using ? to do a Google search

  • The ? "trick" is a nice little timesaver for doing a web search
  • All you need to do is enter the ? and then the word(s) on which you want to do a web search
  • Press the enter key and the search will be done using the Google Search Engine
  • Let's try it with dog breeds.  Type   ? dog breeds

Using zip to do an zip code based search

  • The zip "trick" is a nice little timesaver for doing a zip code based web search
  • All you need to do is enter zip and then the zip code on which you want to do a web search (e.g. zip 08043).
  • Press the enter key and check out the results.
  • Try it with a zip code of your library

Using quote to do an excite search

  • The quote "trick" is a nice little timesaver for looking up the price of a stock based on its ticker symbol
  • All you need to do is enter the word quote and then the symbol on which you want to do a search
  • Press the enter key and the price will be looked up.
  • Try it with Amazon (AMZN).  Type    quote amzn
