Security: (Remember, you cannot control whether security is on)
  1. Purpose: to see whether or not a page is encrypted (i.e. secure) in order to do credit card transactions, etc...
  2. Note: Encryption just means that the number you enter is coded when traveling through the network, and that only the person who is suppose to receive it will have the key to unlock the code.
  3. Look at the lower right hand corner of the screen, you should see something that looks like Image A below.
  4. You'll see there is NO padlock showing you the site is not secure (personally, I'm not going to put my credit card information in on a non-secure page)
  5. The page we are on now doesn't need security, therefore the padlock won't lock.
  6. Remember you CANNOT turn security on, that is up to the people asking for your credit card #.
  7. Follow this link to see what a "locked padlock" looks like. (The link takes you to a former Amazon.com shopping cart page and you'll see something like Image B below).
