Web Site Navigation Examples

Dealing with lots of pages...note that Information Architecture (how you organize) and Navigation are not the same, but are inseperable.

These are just a few examples of Site Navigation (partly to remind you that the world doesn't have to revolve around dropdown menus)

Barnes and Noble uses a Tab setup with an indicator for the current page...Sub-navigation (sub categories) appears below the category and changes

• Digg Categories - http://digg.com/design
Digg uses a similar Category/Sub Category mark up giving a user a good idea of where they are and where they are in relation to the whole site

Best Buy uses a drop down menu setup and breadcrumbs to allow a user to navigate their site

Slashdot separates out it's "administrative" links, uses a "unique" menu based system and breadcrumbs
